Student Pastor

When Marco, our student pastor, preaches, please take a moment to complete the special survey that will be found in your bulletin.  These surveys are a valuable tool for Peter and Marco as they evaluate his preaching.

Those who are part of a select group from the congregation who also share their thoughts about Marco's preaching should plan to meet during the fellowship dinner on December 11th to discuss Marco's last two sermons.

Sharing of Joys & Concerns

For many, the sharing of joys and concerns in our worship service is the most significant part of our service.  This is a time to lift up prayer requests.  If you have a message for the congregation that is not a prayer request please voice it during the announcement period at the beginning of the service.

The Bible on Mp3

If it's easier for you to listen to the Bible than to read it, here's a resource to help you.  Use the following links to get to websites where you can download audio files to hear the entire Bible, read in the NIV version.  And it's free!

New Banners

We have received a donation from the Kiwanis in appreciation for serving meals for their meetings twice a year.  This money has been used to purchase new banners in the sanctuary.

“Faithful Month by Month”

In June we will complete our three-year challenge to pay off $300,000 of our building mortgage.  This will allow us to re-negotiate our loan to obtain lower monthly loan payments.  We are currently about $105,000 short.  Please continue your support to help us meet this goal.

World of the New Testament

In February we will continue a series of sermons that compares the way that we Americans understand life with the way it is portrayed in the New Testament.  How are they similar and different? This month we will reflect on our understanding of the world and of time.

Pulpit Exchange

On February 5, Old Union will participate in a “round robin” pulpit exchange with St. John Lutheran Church and Valencia Presbyterian Church, as an expression of our unity in Christ. Come to hear a fresh perspective on God’s word.

Annual Spaghetti Dinner

Old Union’s youth group will hold its annual spaghetti dinner fund-raiser on Saturday, February 18, 4:00-7:00.  The money they raise at this event will help to cover the costs of their service and social activities for the next year.  Please support our youth by donating supplies, buying tickets, and inviting your friends!

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner

Join your Old Union family for an evening of good food, conversation, and a devotional time to begin the season of Lent.  Our traditional Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner will be held on February 21, beginning at 6:30.  If you would like to help prepare or serve the meal, please speak with Bill H.

Community Lenten Devotional Series

The Mars Area Ministerium will hold a Lenten Devotional Series, to be hosted by LAS St. John.  We will meet each Friday of Lent, beginning February 24, 12:30-1:00 PM, in the chapel of St. John.  The cafeteria will be open for anyone who would like to share a meal before the devotions. The theme for the devotional series will be Jesus' "I Am" Statements from the Gospel of John.  Each thirty minute devotion will include music, prayer, and a brief message by one of our community's pastors.
